Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Disabilities Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support to individuals with learning disabilities in a range of settings, including in their own homes, day centers, and community-based services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing person-centered support to individuals with learning disabilities in all aspects of their daily lives, including personal care, communication, social interaction, and leisure activities.
  • Supporting individuals to develop life skills and achieve their personal goals.
  • Promoting independence and choice, while respecting the individual’s rights and dignity.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of support provided, ensuring confidentiality and data protection at all times.
  • Communicating effectively with other team members, families, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for individuals.
  • Adhering to health and safety policies and procedures, including administering medication and dealing with emergency situations.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities in a similar role is desirable.
  • A compassionate and caring nature with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals and their families.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of person-centered approaches and a commitment to promoting the rights and choices of individuals with learning disabilities.
  • A flexible approach to work, including the ability to work shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • A relevant qualification, such as an NVQ in Health and Social Care, is desirable but not essential.
