About us

Our locations support Adults in the community, including, but not exclusively people who have physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health and age-related needs. NCCN specialises in the provision of large care packages specifically designed for those who need a high level of care supervised by highly qualified nurses and support staff. This includes brain and spinal injury, life limiting conditions and enduring neurological conditions. A Learning Disabilities team provides all levels of care in this specialist area, including the provision of Independent Supported Living services, respite services and home support, specialising in support for those who have Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other complex conditions.

A Brief History

Founded in 1992 – A Family-Led Beginning

New Concept Care and Nursing Ltd (NCCN) began in October 1992, founded by Mary Hiley, as a family-owned, nurse-led home care provider. Starting from its roots in Market Weighton, the company was built on Mary’s vision to deliver high-quality, compassionate support within people’s own homes

Regional Growth & Expansion of Services

Over the years, NCC steadily grew its footprint across the region. They opened additional offices in Selby and Knottingley, extending coverage across East Riding, North Yorkshire (including Selby), West Yorkshire, and Northern Lincolnshire. The services broadened from standard home care to cater for older adults, individuals with learning and physical disabilities, brain and spinal injuries, mental health conditions, and complex nursing needs, including end-of-life and high-dependency care

Training, Leadership & Team Development

As a nurse-led provider, NCC emphasised high standards of practice and training.

Over time, we, built a skilled workforce capable of managing specialist care while maintaining values rooted in dignity and respect. Leadership roles were cultivated from within under the guidance of founding director Mary and later overseen by her family, including Andrew Luckett in key leadership positions.

Today & Looking Ahead

Now spanning three offices and employing over 300 staff, we continue to uphold its founding values while responding to evolving community needs. Remaining rooted in expert-led, person-centred care led by Andrew and registered Manager Sue Walsh, underpinned by specialist teams, ongoing training and full career progression from entry-level roles to managerial positions.
